Miley Cyrus writes letter to New York governor asking for $5million for homeless youth

Miley Cyrus has sent a letter to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo asking for $4.75 million in the state budget to be put toward protecting homeless youth and ensuring they have a safe place to sleep.
The singer wrote that she would like to see that money used for 1,000 new beds set aside for homeless children, citing a severe shortage of beds for the youth in the US.
“As you probably know, 1.6 million kids across the US are homeless, and the problem is especially serious in New York,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Between 2009 and 2012, the number of kids turned away from homeless youth shelters grew from 570 to more than 5,000.”
Cyrus founded the Happy Hippie Foundation in 2014 “to rally young people to fight injustice, starting with youth homelessness”.
