Northern Cape police are investigating a case of murder after a man allegedly stabbed his 27-year old girlfriend to death with an assegai, a type of spear, on Sunday. According to a report in the Diamond Field Adviser, the woman, Lerato Olifant, ran into a stranger’s home in Galeshewe seeking refuge from her crazed ex-boyfriend.
“It is alleged that the boyfriend found the deceased relaxing with friends at a house nearby and forcefully dragged her into his car and drove off,” said police spokesperson Major Dimakatso Mooi.
“A few metres away, the deceased jumped out of the car and ran into the nearest house on Sechoareng Street. The suspect stopped the vehicle and pulled out a sharp object from the boot of his car.
“He followed the deceased into the house where he stabbed her several times. The deceased was declared dead on the scene. The suspect fled the scene with his car,” Mooi added.
