Bidemi Adeleye, 37, was yesterday Monday 11th May 2015, charged before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Lagos over alleged rape of a 24 years old woman (names withheld).
He was
arraigned on a two-count charge by the police, was alleged to have committed
the offence on April 24 at 24 Oniwaya Street, Agege area of Lagos.
The
accused was also said to have assaulted the victim by beating her, which caused
her pain.
Police
prosecutor, Sergeant Asogba Kehinde, holding brief for Edet Okoi, informed the
court that the offence was punishable under Section 258 of the Criminal
Administration of Justice, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
However,
when the charge was read to the accused before Magistrate M. I. Dan-Oni, he
pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate
Dan-Oni granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties that
must have verifiable home address and adjourned the matter till June 8.
In
another development, Police in Lagos have arraigned a 35-year-old woman,
Kate Okoundo, before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for allegedly
stealing counterparts, paper boards, charts and premier cards valued
N1,200,000, property of one Bello Mohammed.
The
accused was arraigned by the police on a-count charge and accused to have
committed the offence on April 22 at Nokia Alabarago Abuja Line Office, Lagos.
When the
charge was read to the accused before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe, she pleaded
not guilty and was granted N500,000 bail with two sureties who must be blood
relatives and have evidence of three years tax payment, with a verifiable home
address.
The
magistrate, Komolafe, adjourned the matter till June 11.
