NIMASA Gets An Acting DG.

Following the recent sack by the President, Muhammadu Buhari, of the former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Ziakede Akpobolokemi, an acting DG has been appointed to oversee the running of the agency pending when a substantive DG is appointed by the Federal Government.




Barrister Calistus Nwabueze Obi has taken over as the Acting Director General/Chief Executive Officer of NIMASA following the handing over by former DG, Dr Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi.

He was until his appointment the Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services in the Agency, bringing over two decades of experience in the public sector, law and the maritime industry to his new responsibility.

The Acting DG is 51 years old, from Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, studied Law at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), member of the International Bar Association (IBA), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, amongst membership of several other professional associations.
