A security guard at Idia College, a girls secondary school in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, has stabbed a middle-aged man to death for allegedly intruding into the school premises.
It was gathered that the incident, which occurred at about 12pm on Friday, disrupted academic activities and stirred panic among the students.
It was gathered that the guard had accosted the victim and three others and questioned their mission when he noticed their suspicious movements in a bush within the college.
The security personnel was said to have alleg edly struck the suspected intruder with a sharp object, in self defence, after a violent confrontation ensued between him and the victim, who died few minutes later as a result of the injury sustained.
The other suspected intruders ran away as soon as they noticed that something had gone wrong.
Any eye with ness said, when efforts to get comments from the school management prove abortive, said she was surprised to find the body of a lifeless man on the ground when she and her colleagues came out to find out what was amiss.
"I was inside my hall when I saw other students running outside.
"So, I came out to see what was happening and saw the dead man on the ground," she said.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Stephen Onwochei, were unsuccessful, as calls put to his telephone line were unanswered.
It was, however, learnt that the guard was later arrested along with two other security guards by police officers from the Oba Market police station, while the corpse of the man was evacuated.
