Jose Mourinho vows to get Chelsea's title defence back on track

Chelsea are already eight points behind leaders Manchester City with just four points from their opening four games of the season.

The champions lost 2-1 against Crystal Palace before the international break but Mourinho is confident they will turn things around.

“At the moment, we are losing matches and not getting results,” he said. “But step by step we are going to be back on track.” he added.

Chelsea travel to Everton on Saturday and Mourinho believes they will improve on their uninspiring start at Goodison Park. “Three months ago we won the title and every success I have, I want more,” he said.

Meanwhile Mourinho, speaking in his role as an ambassador for the United Nations’ World Food Programme ahead of the Rugby World Cup, believes football can learn from rugby when it comes to young players.

The Chelsea boss believes young footballers lose their passion for the game because they have too many distractions. He feels football should take a leaf out of rugby’s book to ensure young players remain hungry.

“My feeling is that rugby is only about passion,” he told ITV.

“Football is changing a lot and I cannot say the same.”
