We all are know that National Youth Service Corps, forbids corps members from granting press interview on any issue that relates to or affects NYSC. Incase you are not ware, it is very true.
But one of the corps members in 2015, batch B stream 2, has vowed to violate that policy before the end of his service year. Read what he wrote below..
The National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) has a totalitarian and an unconstitutional policy that completely bans Corp members from granting media interviews or making press statements on any issue that relates to or affects the NYSC. This is one policy or byelaw that I will violate.
I cannot submit to unconstitutional policies. Freedom of expression is a fundamental right guaranteed by Section 39 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended). No person or institution can stop me from expressing myself on any matter.
I will make statements in the media about the NYSC before the end of my service year and damn the consequences. Submission to the service of my fatherland is not submission to servitude. NYSC at present needs serious reforms and cleansing. This is why Corp members are banned from granting interviews. NYSC cannot cover the corruption and rot in the scheme by cohesion.
In addition, NYSC needs some cleansing really, especially on the hostels, toilets, feeding and the Skills and acquisition program in the orientation camp.
Brigadier Johnson Bamidele we need you here.
