With 218 days to the kick off of the 2016 Olympic Games and the date for the draw set for May of 2016, Captain of Nigeria’s Dream Team VI, Azubuike Okechukwu says he fancies either Argentina or Brazil in the group stages.
Both South America teams have qualified for the competition; Brazil as hosts and Argentina picked a ticket as 2015 South AYC champions.
Seeding and drawing of lots will take sporting and geographic factors into consideration, as far as possible per competition rules.
Azubuike was voted MVP of the 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations and as Captain of Samson Siasia’s men marshaled the team to a first title.
‘ I would like to play against Argentina or Brazil. I believe playing against such top teams and their big name players like Neymar for Brazil will make for a good show.
‘ We have top players around the world who are capable of holding their own against any team.’
I6 teams will play in the group stages of the Men’s football event of the Summer Games in Brazil.
The draw for the final competitions shall take place at least three months prior to the opening match of the final competitions.
