A topless woman wih the Iranian flag painted on her chest
staged a mock execution from a Paris bridge to protest President Hassan
Rouhani's visit to France.
A banner hung from the Debilly Footbridge above, reading,
"Welcome Rouhani, executioner of freedom."
The fake noose was tied under the woman's arms, so she
wasn't harmed.
Femen France — a branch of the feminist group known for
topless demonstrations — staged the protest.
"We organized this public display as a little reminder
of the fact that every year, more than 800 people are sentenced to death in his
country," Femen France's spokesperson Sarah Constantin told reporters.

She also criticized French President Francois Hollande for inviting
Rouhani to the country.
Rouhani's sensibilities have been a key feature of the
leader's trip through Europe, which focuses on improving economic and
diplomatic relations between Iran and Europe. During a stop in Rome, Italy,
authorities covered nude statues and sculptures by white boxes as a sign of
respect for Muslim traditions.
Rouhani reached a long-term car manufacturing agreement with
France — and was formally greeted Thursday at the gold-domed Invalides monument
that houses Napoleon's tomb.
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said the countries should
forget past rancor.
"France is available for Iran," he said.
"Iran can count on France."
Rouhani said his country is "favorable terrain"
for resumed trade between East and West, as he and Valls pledged to turn the
page on past tensions.
The outreach trip follows the agreement curbing Iran’s
nuclear program that prompted the lifting of earlier sanctions.
