A Nigerians writes an article titled "Had the coup occurred in Nigeria"

I am certain it would have succeeded.
First, the soldiers would have fired into the civilian protesters, as is usual practice. It would have ensured people stayed indoors. The police who were arresting soldiers in Turkey would have joined in Nigeria. Who born them?

The IG would of course be thinking of soft landing. Jonathan would have been called upon to mediate with the avengers as if they are part of the military. The National Assembly would have issued a statement justifying the coup and blaming Buhari who is bias in his anti corruption fight and who have no ideas how to get us out of our economic woes.

Relatives of the coup plotters, their sponsors and their circle would be recruiting supporters and hoping it is their time to chop. The PDP would have been happy at the timely rescue in the hands of the propagandist APC. The Igbos would be happy having been sidelined. Social media would have been divided into wailers and hailers. Afenifere would have called for caution but not condemned the coup. Ohaneze would be silent while Arewa would be livid. The North would blame the Yoruba particularly if the coup had been led by a Southerner.

Some Yorubas would say this serves Tinubu right. The media would have been undecided on whether to support or condemn the coup depending on whose side the owners are.

NBA, ASUU, NLC would have issued statements calling for caution but with no desire to condemn it. Only APC office holders and their family members and friends would condemn the coup and calling on the international community to wade in, as others begin to see how they might serve in the new military government.

Men of God would be issuing conflicting messages as if there is more than one God. In the ensuing confusion, the military would have consolidated and taken over successfully. We have a country to heal. We are simply not a nation. And it is better we acknowledge this reality and get it right. Government is wise by half if it continues to ignore the warning signs of how deeply divided we are.

Does he make sense to you?
