Gunfire Disrupt Rivers APC Rally, Party Supporters Scamper-Video

ALL Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State Dr Dakuku Peterside has narrowly escaped death after unknown gunmen disrupted the party’s campaign rally in Okrika Local Government Area of the state.

According to the APC, the gunmen attacked the rally and it supporters who had originally been dispersed by three separate explosions, were later sent scampering by sporadic gunfire. Dr Peterside was hurriedly whisked away by security operatives in the midst of the deafening sound of sporadic gunshots, a few minutes after three explosives went off close.

Apparently, the three bombs were detonated at the venue of the rally, at the Okrika National Secondary School field and everyone fled only to reconvene later. As soon as everyone settled down again, the gunmen attacked, forcing the APC to cancel the campaign rally as the crowd fled in different directions.

Eyewitnesses say the initial bomb scare had caused a stampede as APC supporters took to their heels to avoid being hit by three separate explosions which were later confirmed to have been fireworks thrown into the scene by suspected mischief makers. However, the gunshots were more serious as after the shots were fired, security agents went looking for the gunmen with their weapons drawn
