Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu has resigned from office, citing financial recklessness by the leadership of the party.
Nwanyanwu’s decision was announced yesterday in an open letter to the National Chairman of Labour Party, Chief Abdulkadir Salam.
He
explained that his action was based on the irregularities in the party’s
activities which “are not in consonance with the integrity,
transparency and accountability which the party had achieved over the
years”.
Chief Nwanyanwu also cited the theft of nomination funds from one of the south-south states, saying it resulted in the loss of money for the party.
However, the National Chairman of the Party, Chief Abdulkadir Salam, said Nawnyanwu’s allegations of financial recklessness are baseless, adding that he was yet to receive a copy of the resignation letter.
