55% of Lagos commercial drivers are on hard drugs.



He said of  this number, 202, representing 22 per cent, tested positive to alcohol, while 801 drivers screened through urinary test, 442, representing 55 per cent tested positive.
Lagos state government has screened  801 commercial drivers for hard drugs through urinary test,  442 of them representing, and 55% tested positive.
Dr. Jide Idris, who is the commissioner of health in Lagos State, discloded this at a ministerial  press briefing in Ikeja, on his ministerial activities since the past one year.
The commissioner said they did it to reduce the prevalence of road traffic accidents and ensure residents safety.
Mr. Idris,  said the drivers were also at different times, screened for hypertension and diabetics, among others.
The commissioner stated they screened was done in some specific motors parks in the state in December 2014.
According to Mr. Idris,  breathlayers were used to test 929 commercial drivers to know the amount of alcohol intakes.
