For singer Miguel,
it doesn’t look to be anything major as he opened up about why hasn’t put a
ring on the finger of his longtime girlfriend Nazanin Mandi after 10 years of
dating. To hear him tell it, marriage is something he isn’t willing to take
lightly.
“I think it’s more about working. The thing is, you got to know
who you are as a person, first of all,” Miguel recently explained to a New York
radio station. “I think I’ve come so far as a man and I’m just starting to feel
solid where I can be like, ‘You know what? I think I can hold this down
legitimately.’ I think now people throw things around like marriage. I just
wasn’t raised like that.”
While many guys feel a bit of pressure to pop the question or
jump the broom with the apple of their eye after a certain amount of time,
Miguel mentioned that he doesn’t feel any pressure to move in that direction at
this time.
“I don’t feel pressure because I know that when I commit, I
really commit,” he said. Now it’s just thrown around because it’s so easy to
breakup. And I’m just not that kind of person. I’m just not gonna do that. I
wouldn’t do that to her. That’s just not how I was raised. I just don’t feel
like that would be honorable.”
Ok. That’s good, but how is Nazanin feeling about this?
Although he didn’t reveal anything about receiving pressure from
his girlfriend to get down on bended knee, one thing Miguel did say was that
Nazanin has accepted that he is “wild at heart.”
“I’m wild at heart. I just follow my instincts and that’s what
this album is about,” the entertainer shared. “I think she’s learned that and
she’s had to adjust and had to learn and also embrace. And I love her more for
that.”
