16-year-old girl raped, strangled and killed in her home.

Arnesha Bowers, a 16-year-old girl, was sexually assaulted, strangled and killed in her Baltimore home last week. Two men and a 14-year-old boy have been arrested in connection to the gruesome crime.

"Can you imagine leaving your child at home and two people come into her house hell-bent on death and destruction?" Baltimore Police Maj. Stanley Bradford said to the Baltimore Sun. "I can only imagine what the last moments of Arnesha's life was like. It must have been pure hell."

Adonay Dixon, 23, and John Childs, 20, were arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of Bowers, the Baltimore Sun reports. On Wednesday, Raeshawn Rivers, 14, was arrested and will be charged as an adult in connection to her killing, according to WBAL.com.

On Saturday, June 7, Bowers was with Childs and Dixon at Childs's apartment. Her grandmother picked her up and Dixon reportedly followed Bowers on his bike to her grandmother's home. He returned later with Childs. The men broke in knowing Bowers's grandmother was at work that day and planned to steal valuables in her home. The items stolen include an iPad and laptop.

Dixon and Bowers climbed through a basement window. When Bowers woke up, Dixon dragged her to the basement where he was with her for 30 minutes. Childs, during that time, reportedly began grabbing valuables such as money from her purse. Her body, bed, dresser and a room in the basement of Bowers's home had been set on fire.

At one point, Dixon came upstairs from the basement and told Childs that Bowers was dead and said that they had to leave the house because it was on fire.

Bowers was an 11-grader at City College High School.

Baltimore has seen a rise in homicides following the death of Freddie Gray. In May 2015, the city of Baltimore reported the highest number of homicides since 1996.
