Jose Baez has certainly proven himself to be the man who can hide your sins, or make them go away. He helped Casey Anthony beat a murder charge, perhaps Nick Gordon
will fare the same should he find himself being charged with negligent
homicide in what may be a long legal battle with his girlfriend’s
family.
As
Bobbi Kristina Brown spends her final days in hospice care, and
whispers growing louder about Nick being held responsible for her
injuries, Gordon is lying low in Florida and lawyering up. He has hired
attorney Jose Baez after allegations that he assaulted her and
misappropriated her money.
The
Wrap’s Anita Bennett reports that news of Gordon hiring the Florida
criminal defense attorney, who won an acquittal for Casey Anthony in her
2011 murder case, comes one week after Brown’s court-appointed
conservator filed a lawsuit against Gordon alleging that he assaulted
Brown and transferred funds to himself from her bank account without her
permission.
The
complaint alleges that Gordon posed as Brown’s husband in order to
control her contact with others as part of a “scheme to benefit from her
wealth.”
Bobby Kristina was placed in a hospice care facility the same day that the lawsuit was filed.
“Despite
the great medical care at numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s
condition has continued to deteriorate,” Pat Houston said in a
statement.
The complaint also alleges that on January 31,
the day Krissy was found face down and unresponsive in her bathtub, she
became “embroiled in a loud argument with Defendant at her townhome.”
The
suit goes on to claim that shortly before the bathtub incident, Brown
“had confided in someone that Defendant was not the man she thought he
was” and set up a Jan. 31 meeting with that person “to further discuss this revelation.”
According
to People, Baez will act as Gordon’s co-counsel along with attorneys
Joe Habachy and Randy Kessler, who have represented Gordon for several
months. The high-profile legal team has also reportedly enlisted
investigator TJ Ward, who worked on the Natalee Holloway disappearance
case.
