Meet Engr. (Mrs.) Florence Seriki, MFR, GMD/CEO Omatek Computers.
She is a graduate of Chemical Engineering from the University of Ife (now Obafemi
Awolowo University), Engr. (Mrs.) Florence Seriki (MFR) is the FOUNDER and
the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Omatek Ventures
Plc, a company she founded over 21 years ago.
I learnt she started it with her NYSC allowance.
She ranks high amongst Champions of the development and pioneering of local content and manufacturing in the ICT sector in Africa, when through her dogged
determination she opened the first indigenous Computer Assembly plant in
Nigeria and Ghana to pioneer the assembly of Computers, speakers and Casings
from Completely-Knocked-Down components.
She is a Fellow of notable associations both within and outside the shores of
the Country, including the Nigerian Chemical Engineering Society, Nigerian
Computer Society and had received over 100 Notable Awards.
This includes the First Hall of fame Award from her alma matter, the Titan of tech award, the Legend of tech award, the African Amazon of the Decade, the entrepreneur of year 1992 award by the Nigerian American Chamber in conjunction with the
American embassy, etc.
Mrs. Seriki who was recently honoured with the National award of the Member
of The Federal Republic (MFR), is an alumnus and pioneer of the prestigious
Lagos Business School after graduating from the AMP-1 class in 1993.
A little about her company Omatek Computers..
Omatek Computers originally started over 22 years ago as a training outfit and progressed into executive training for bank executives and their counterparts from the Oil and Gas Sector.
Omatek is especially known to have had a stint training staff of Shell and NNPC.
In the course of time, Omatek metamorphosed from a computer selling firm
to a computer manufacturer.
The need to continue to meet the minimum order quantity requirement of some of the best manufacturers to sustain production quality, led to the embrace of the SMEIS scheme in partnership with two leading Banks to:
 manufacture Casings, keyboards
and Speakers from Completely
Knocked Down (CKD) Components;
 produce the OMATEK brand of
Computers, Notebooks and Servers
 export computers, casings and
speakers within Africa and
 Generate employment
opportunities in the IT Industry for
youths.
v Omatek recently exited the SME
scheme through a Private Placement
which has culminated in its listing on
the floor of the Nigerian Stock
Exchange-the first ICT Company in
Nigeria to be so listed.
v The shares of the company were
over subscribed by a whooping N 6
billion Naira. This is indicative of the
kind of respect and acceptance that
Omatek has earned over the past two
decades.
Today, Omatek has grown into a Group of
Companies with the establishment of
subsidiaries to strengthen its operations.
Omatek Ventures Plc has therefore become
the holding company for the subsidiaries
namely:
Omatek Computers Ltd
Omatek Computers (Ghana)Ltd
Omatek Ventures (Ghana) Ltd
Omatek Engineering Services Ltd
