Cory Wells, Three Dog Night singer dies at 74..Cory Wells, one of the founding members and lead singers of the band Three Dog Night, recently passed away unexpectedly in Dunkirk, New York. He was 74-years-old. Wells had apparently suffered some type of back pain in September. Three Dog Night had been performing regularly when the pain began to suddenly affect Wells.


“It is with deep sadness and disbelief that I must report the passing of Cory Wells, my beloved band mate for over 45 years,” fellow Three Dog Night vocalist Danny Hutton was quoted in a statement on the band’s website. “Cory was an incredible singer – a great performer, he could sing anything.”
Cory Wells grew up in a tough part of Buffalo, New York, reports All Music. Before Three Dog Night, Wells had been a member of other bands like the Satellites, The Enemys, and the Fidelitones. Wells met Danny Hutton and Chuck Negron in the late 1960s and Three Dog Night was born. Hutton and Wells were reported to have met at a Whisky A Go-Go performance of The Enemys.
