Final part of gender equality, what we should do

I am urging everyone to start encouraging people, communities etc who are unaware of the existence and negative effects of these issues I mentioned.

It is our responsibility to educate them on the benefits of gender equality by action and words.

-Sensitize the traditional institutions  and the people in the community on the importance of sending their children (boys and girls) to school, so as to let them grow to adulthood in a healthy and safe community, getting them to know also that education is key to empowerment.
-Importance of good nutrition in pregnancy also has to be stressed as a way of reducing infant and maternal mortality.

-Breast, prostrate and cervical cancers are responsible for high number of deaths among men and women in recent times. There is need for sensitization on this also.
-Sanitation and cleanliness. There is no gain saying that health is wealth.
Maintenance of environmental sanitation and personal hygiene must be emphasized.
Economist fight against gender inequalities by canvassing for stamping out discriminating customary laws and practices. Such as issues of property inheritance, especially land matters and early marriages.
This leads to serious health consequences in women such as Vesico Virginal Fistula(VVF), harmful widowhood practices, wife battering, female genital mutilation, male preference and rape to mention but a few.

-No longer should girls be forced to labor in the fields, sex trade or as domestic servants because they are poor.

-Sensitization of women for political participation.
-Form Gender Vanguards to carry out the above assignment.
-Need for increased attention on the disabled persons in the society as they are vulnerable.

In Conclusion...
The current push for a vibrant policy action would not only ensure empowerment of women and gender advocates/ practitioners, but provide sustainable growth and development for the country.
It is my prayer that together we will continue to impact positively on the lives of women and other women and other vulnerable members of our s
