Meet the Zambian girl who was married off by her father to a man 20 years older than her when she was 15.

Chipasa Illiamupu  was the last child of eight children born by her parents. Her mother was late and she was married off by her father when she was 15-years-old in a remote village in Zambia.

The man who married har paid her father $30 dollars for her bride price. The man who married her was a  soldier who was 20 years older than her.

She had a baby girl in her first year and nearly died during childbirth. A chance encounter with an NGO made her realise she could escape her very abusive marriage. After two she years she divorced her husband and returned to school.

She is now 22 years old and in her second year at the University of Zambia. Nomsa Maseko heard her story.
