The transgender woman who threatened to kill herself if put in a male prison was found dead in her cell.

A 21-year-old transgender  woman identified as Vicky Thompson,  threatened to kill herself if she was sent to a men's prison and she was found dead in her cell.


Ms Thompson was found dead in her cell at the category B prison last Friday.
Friends said Ms Thompson, who was born male but had identified as female since her mid-teens, had repeatedly asked to be sent to a female prison.

The late transgender hailed from Keighley, West Yorkshire, she was handed a 12-month jail term in August which was suspended for 24 months but was later remanded in custody after breaching the terms.

According to Mail Online, at her sentencing her solicitor Mohammed Hussain told the judge she was 'essentially a woman' and asked for her to be sent to New Hall women's prison, near Wakefield, but she was instead sent to men's prison HMP Leeds.
