Nigeria’s Dream Team VI drop to second place in group B after a 2-2 draw against Egypt at the Stade Caroline Faye on Wednesday.
Egypt came from behind in the second half to cancel out Oghenekaro Etebo’s first half brace; both came from the spot.Siasia’s men were suspect at the back in the first game, so the Coach dropped Zaharadden Bello to the bench for Amafule Chizoba.
Nigeria had desperately hoped to avoid leaving their qualification to the next round to calculations but the most secured path to the next round is a win against Algeria – perchance Egypt defeat Mali.
But that made very little difference as the team was punished still; within 9 minutes of the second half. The teams both pressed for a winner that did not come in an end to end encounter.
Earlier, Algeria had defeated Mali to go top of Group B with 4 points and one goal advantage.
Mali were knocked out by virtue of the defeat but Egypt remain in contention having secured 2 points and win against the second West African country in the group will take them to 5 points.
