The body found on board a US registered plane in Zimbabwe was already
in advanced stages of decomposition, according to reports on Tuesday.
The plane was impounded in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwean authorities have requested help from Interpol with the investigation into the body, which was found on Sunday.
It is not clear whether the man died due to conditions on the plane or if he was a stowaway, but it’s understood the adult male was dead for some time.
He has not yet been identified, according to News24.
The four-member crew said they knew nothing about the body. They were
being kept in an undisclosed location for security reasons, but no
arrests have been made.
The Western Global Airlines plane was flying from Germany to King Shaka International Airport in Durban when the captain asked for a technical landing at Harare International Airport, Zimbabwe’s Herald newspaper reported.
While it was being refulled, airport officials found that there was blood dripping from the plane and when they went to check, they found the man’s body, Fin24 reported. The man’s identity and nationality are unknown.
