K. Michelle is the latest celebrity to announce her endorsement for Hillary Clinton in the presidential race, but she probably wasn’t expecting the backlash from doing so.
K.
hit up Instagram to reflect on her professional accomplishments, during
which, she praised Clinton and advised fans that Hillary is a “woman
you should know.”
She
started off her Instagram post with a look back on her early life: “My
life has taken me places I would’ve never thought. I graduated from
Florida A&M University with honors, and later was accepted into
numerous law schools. Then one wrong turn and my life changed. From
ratchet reality TV, Twitter fights, to currently making history as the
1st African-American to ever receive an endorsement and their own
beverage brand through Jack Daniels. So many wrong turns, but a constant
fight to get back on the right track. It’s takin some time.”
K. Michelle released her debut studio album Rebellious Soul in 2013, and followed it up with Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart? Her third album drops at the end of March.
“March 25
is a celebration! I will be releasing my third album
#MoreIssuesThanVogue when they said I would NEVER have one,” she wrote.
“You guys made the last 2 albums #1 on the R&B charts, let’s make
the third time a charm AGAIN! One Love.”
Michelle ended the post announcing her endorsement for Clinton.
“I
will be actively supporting and campaigning for Hillary Clinton
throughout this term, she is a woman who you should know. A woman also
counted out. I relate to her. I’m placing my energy in people and things
that evoke CHANGE!”
Kerry Washington, Jeffrey Wright, Uzo Aduba, Jennifer Lopez and Magic Johnson
have all been enthusiastic about Hillary Clinton’s campaign. In a
separate post, K. Michelle said getting an opportunity to speak to
Clinton about “the issues that are important to me as an
African-American woman, was beyond motivating.”
