#PhotoNews-This Community Is in Lagos State But They Suffer Like Rejected People

Igando Oloja is a community in Ibeju Lekki Local government area of Lagos State. Residents of this community are not only suffering from bad road network alone, they are suffering from high price of goods and services including transportation.

Some of the people who spoke to me said they have never seen electric power supply in their area since Buhari assumed office that was May 29, 2015. They said they have been living in darkness for more than five years. According to some of the residents, PHCN used to flash the light, thou they have never use it because it used to be very low, “it hardly charge Nokia torch phone, some of the residents said”. “But the flashing stopped last year when Buhari assumed office, another one said”,
Many children watch television only at night from 7: pm to 9: pm when a trader identified as Amaechi puts on his generator. The trader sales electronics in that area.

They depend only on generator power supply, for those who can afford it. The children whose parents cannot afford petrol gathers at his shop by 7: pm just to watch television.  Some wait in front of his shop before 7: Pm. The children were very excited that I was taken their pictures, some came out to pose lol..see them below..

Children in that area, are not just lacking electric power supply; they are also lacking schools nearby. Some of the children spend N200-500 daily on transportation daily just to go to school. The only public schools around are RCM Ayeteju and Bogije, that is primary. Those in secondary schools either attend Ibeju High school or the one at Iwerekun (Lakowe). Parents in that area are seriously complaining about the amount of money they spend on their children daily for transportation alone.
Things the community need are: good road, one secondary school at least, market like mile 12 market to help them get things at cheaper rate. “people believe we live on the Island because it is called Lekki, this is a village in Lekki (Ibeju Lekki), things here are very expensive here, we can  barely afford good things here because of its high price, one of the residents said.

“Another resident said, some people have moved out of this place because of high standard of living, people who live in this area are low income earners, most of us don’t have good jobs”. “We are ordinary laborers”,  if government can provide BRT buses to this place, market like mile 12 market, things will be better, most times we suffer to enjoy our money, because there is nothing good to buy here he added.
“Another one said, the BRT buses only end at Ajah and from Ajah to this place is another N250.00 transport. We need light, we need electricity, schools, and markets, he added,”
Another man took me to a place called Ayeteju, a village called Ayeteju and showed me the Bore hole federal government provided for them many years ago, the Bore hole is dilapidation and no light to pump the water he said,”.  Another one added, "what is the need that we have bore hole and we cannot make use of it" See it below..

People in that community also, urged health officials to assist in monitoring the environment, people in that community mess up the environments a lot. When some of them complain they will be seen as bad people. One of the elderly women in that area took me round the village where she showed me some of the gutters. The drainage are really a mess. She said they only lock themselves up on sanitation days, after sanitation they will open their doors and come out without cleaning their environments.
The community is calling on health officials to make sure they have clean environments, one of the youths said”, if we can get good electric power supply, we will be watching televisions, seeing good things happening in the word can help us do good things here”. See the drainage below
