Ogoni Land is a big remote village in Rivers state Nigeria. They are popularly known for their fishing and farming skills. Today 2nd of August 2016, some youths in Ogoni land in Khana local government are currently staging a protest against plans by the state government to
dredge the river in their community. According to the youths, the river is
their only source of water. They allege that the state government has not
done Environmental Impact Assessment.
The Ogoni Kingdom, the Ogonis are one of the many indigenous people in Nigeria.
The Ogoni land span over 404-square-mile with about 1.5 million people living in Ogoni homeland.
The Ogoni languages of Khana, Gokana, Tae (Tẹẹ), Eleme, and Ban Ogoi is the predominant language being spoken among the major Christian dominated population.
The Ogoni land is located in Rivers State on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea, east of the city of Port Harcourt.
