A seven-year old girl on Wednesday, using dolls to explain, told the East London High Court she was raped twice in her home at the Zozo Location in Kwelera last June.
According to the Daily Dispatch, the young girl’s testimony was watched on a television screen as she told state prosecutor Zukile Mdolomba what happened from another room.
“My mother’s bed is not big enough for all of us and she often says we are going to press against the baby and then she tells us to go sleep in the other room with bhuti (brother),” she said.
The night of the first incident, the girl told the court the man fetched her from her mother’s room and took her to his bedroom. He undressed her, climbed on top of her, and then raped her.
She said the rape happened in front of her eight-year old cousin, who was asleep at the time.
She went to school the next day, but did not tell anyone what happened because she “did not want to say such big things at school.”
That evening, the man again came to fetch her from her mother’s room.
By using two dolls to show how she was raped, the girl told the court the man placed her on top of him, holding her down so she could not escape.
