Amnesty programme to end by December-Muhammadu Buhari.

President Muhammadu Buhari in his inaugural address has said the on going amnesty programme in the Niger Delta is due to end by December. He however added that his government will continue to “invest heavily in the projects, and programmes currently in place.” He however did not emphatically state if the amnesty programme will continue or not.
On the other hand, he said that "the rehabilitation programmes will be streamlined and made more effective." He also urged the leaders and people of Niger-Delta to be Co-operative so as to bring lasting peace and prosperity to the region. Nigerians are now simply waiting to see how the programme will be "streamlined and made more effective"
