While his former Germany team-mates were winding down after a trip to Gibraltar on Saturday, Per Mertesacker looked to be enjoying his international retirement in California.

The Arsenal centre-back was at the Oracle Arena in Oakland to watch the Golden State Warriors face LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in game five of the NBA finals on Saturday.
Mertesacker was one of a number of stars to attend the game. Floyd Mayweather Jr was also in attendance, alongside pop star Usher, while Metallica performed the American national anthem before the game.
Despite James scoring 40 points, league MVP Steph Curry led the Warriors to a 104-91 victory in game five, earning them a 3-2 lead in a best-of-seven series.
