He was a Unit Commander, Deputy Squadron Commander, Squadron Commander and Commandant Gwoza MOPOL Training bush camp.
He then went on foreign mission for 7 years where he excelled and receive over 19 commendations and award from United Nations. He served as Operations Coordinator, United Nations Mission in Liberia, Deputy Commissioner, United Nations Mission in East Timor. He returned to Nigeria as Director peace keeping office as DC before his promotion to the substantive rank of Commissiner of Police and posting as Commissioner of Police in Kano state.
He went to NIPPS where he obtained the mni honours and was posted to Nasarawa as CP. IGP Ibrahim was later posted as Compol Mopol before his deployment to Kano. He was promoted to the rank of AIG and posted as AIG Dept of Operations FHQ and by God's grace today being 21st June, 2016 the IGP.
Idris is a recipient of over 49 international and domestic awards and also a graduate of Agric Econs and Law from ABU and University of Maiduguri respectively .
