Nigerian Landlords And House Agents Are Making Life Difficult For Nigerian Citizens-See Why

Landlords are helping some hungry jobless men/women in Nigeria to frustrate hardworking innocent Nigerians.
In Nigeria it is obvious if you want to rent a house, you have to go through agents, the agents wouldn't just show you a house. There is a compulsory fee you must pay called "Registration Fee".

The registration is from N10,000 down to N5,000, depending on the type of house you are looking for. Let me go down with the small ones first, if a house is N100,000.00 per annum, the agent will tell you the total package is N180.000 or N200,000.00. Do the mathematics! The agent and agreement is the same or almost the same with the rent you are going to pay.

Most times you don't get a good house, some of them don't have any house to show you. They will either take you to an uncompleted house or a house someone is occupying. They will come up with this story that the owner will complete it soon or the person occupying the house will soon vacate. Sometimes they convince their victims to pay which they may end up not getting the house. If you dare take the police, that is where your frustration will start. Police is not helping us.

When the landlords remove their rent and agreement, the agent parts with the rest. Information also has it that some landlords also works together with the agent to increase the rents, agreements and the agent fees. Which they share in the end. That is why most landlords don't find it difficult to ask a tenant to quit their houses so that they will get another big package from a new tenant.

In some countries for instance, South Africa, you don't have to meet any agent to help you look for a house. If you need a house just go straight to the post office and find a house for yourself.

I am suggesting we do the same here in Nigeria, let it work that way and it help a lot of Nigerians. Any agent that that collects your money must give you what you want. Describe what you want to him, if he/she do not have it let them say and save one's time.

I care about Nigeria and its citizens. I am not giving any agent my house. If my house is for rent I will juts place a notice. The agreement between my tenant and I will be written and signed by my lawyer, myself and my tenant. Thou I have my own terms and conditions, but if the ability to be nice is in you, you will love it.  Thank you.
