Wendy Williams isn't one to hold back but we're thinking she may be regretting her most recent controversial comments.
The talkative TV host decided to give her two cents on Jesse Williams' 2016 Humanitarian Award acceptance speech
that set the internet ablaze. But while doing so, she took a dig at the
NAACP and HBCUs. She explained her stance to the audience:
"I
must say to you, he was on BET. His speech was very poignant...On the
other hand, I would be really offended if there was a school that was
known as a historically white college. We have historically Black
colleges. What if there was the National Organization for White People,
only? There's the NAACP."
Adding, "Look,
everybody's quiet. You're leaving me out here to dry by myself? One
wrong word. I'm choosing my words carefully, but what I am saying is
racism s**ks and we can all do better in our household, educating
ourselves and teaching our children to make it better."
Wendy Williams. A sell out. She is saying all this in hopes that her audience would clap but they ain't having it pic.twitter.com/c5IzUULQTp— ️ (@blahnco) July 6, 2016
Of course it took no time for Black Twitter to respond to her comments. See some reactions below.
Wendy Williams don't know the reasons behind HBCUs? The fact that they were started bc BP were literally not allowed on YT campuses... Smh— erTHang Skanless (@ImLordMA52) July 6, 2016
I'm done with Wendy Williams. Like I will never support her or her show again.— MAY 7, 2016 (@_necia_) July 6, 2016
Wendy Williams tried it, she needs to pull out a history book & learn her history rather than learning about what the next person is doing.— Patrice(@PrttyBrownEyes_) July 6, 2016
Wendy Williams be so strong and wrong. Sis, get your coins but not like this. Not w/ this lack of perspective and this Stacey Dash talk.— Awesomely Luvvie (@Luvvie) July 6, 2016
Those comments by Wendy Williams makes me believe that her life must void of any meaningful dialogue with peers.— Fish'N'Chips Freddie (@SDY292) July 6, 2016
